I’m going to be way too honest here, when I got the email asking me to be part of this project my jaw dropped, I ran around the house jumping up and down and I thanked my vision board. I’m such a big fan of Parachute, Orlando, and all things Bravo. It’s a dreamy combination. I remembered watching Richard Blais do great things on Top Chef when I was a student developing my art practice and absorbing design in New York. It’s surreal to see those worlds collide over a decade later.
To bring artwork into this calming oasis, it was all about keeping the contrast low. The overall palette was clean and simple and this painting needed to draw the eye without overwhelming it. We decided on an earthy, neutral green that would almost match the wall color. The visual interest of this piece comes more from the flow of the canvas and the pattern of the thread which add texture and three-dimensionality to the space.
