Designing A Kitchen Around This Colorful Work Of Art
If I were to design my whole kitchen around one piece of art it would probably be this one…
and it would probably look something like this…
My mind loves the simplicity and clarity of minimalism. Having fewer things in my home has cleared up so much physical and mental space. I fully admit I was once a hoarder (once = the first 28 years of my life), but now I’m allllll about quality over quantity.
However, my aesthetic is still pretty maximalist - I want all the colors, all the patterns, all the fun things. So my version of minimalism is having just a few things, but each one being special, fun and sometimes a little wild. Each thing chosen with intention and purpose.
I want my kitchen to feel clean, fresh and filled with light, but never too stark or cold. I want it to be filled with color and warmth. I always feel like kitchens and bathrooms are where you can go the craziest with color. Plus we all know the kitchen is where we spend the most time, so how nice would it be for that spot to be the happiest one in your home?
Here’s what’s going in what I’m calling my Marigold Dream kitchen:
a. Magical perfectly eclectic/simple Greta White/Mint hanging lamp, Friend of All
b. ‘Marigold With Peony Bevel’ painting, from my Light collection
c. Pretty much everything on this beautifully styled shelf from Claire Zinnecker’s kitchen
d. Bright blue dinnerware, Dina No Ceramics, Otherwild
e. Olive oil in the prettiest bottles, Brightland
f. Vintage table from SF Girl By Bay’s Super Marché (no longer available)
